Today, my recent order from Simply Be arrived and I was super excited! The parcel was huuuuge because the box that my boots are was huuge! I shall blog about my boots soon but what I loved most about my order was the Joe Browns ‘Days Gone By’ dress that is still available here.
For just over £30, this is a beautiful dress. It is made of a thick cotton that has a slight stretch. What struck me about this dress is the pattern. It is a beautiful summer meadow smudge print, that reminds me of the artwork by Claude Monet. I ordered the size 22 in this dress. Because I have a small bust, I probably could have ordered the size 20. The dress sits just above my knee so I can get away without wearing tights but when autumn and winter arrive, I can see myself wearing thick tights and a snuggly cardi.
Because the weather was nice today, I teamed the dress with this jacket, Primark pumps and a black + gold belt from Primark that brings out the gold zips of the jacket.
I also wore my vintage style sunglasses that I won on eBay a few weeks ago.
Do you have this dress? If so, how do you style it?
‘It would be rude not to…’
The Monday after Plus North, the blues had set in. I decided to leave my suitcase for another day as unpacking meant reality and I wasn’t quite ready to come back down from my weekend high!
Late Monday evening, I recieved an email from Simply Be with an offer I could not refuse! 20% off any fashion order and free postage? Marvellous! Just what a girl needed to rise her spirits before she set her 5am work alarm. The discount code lasted a week so I had plenty of time to ponder what I would treat myself to.
I ended up ordering three things.
This beautiful Bird Print Doll Dress that the babely Lisa of My Big Fat Blog wore at Plus North.
Days Gone By by Joe Brown
A lovely floral print dress by Joe Browns for Simply Be. I love the print of this dress and I think it will look great with a waist belt and heels!
Knee High boots
And lastly, I ordered these faux leather knee boots. I ordered a size 8 in the Extra Curvy Plus calf fititng as my calves are huge. My calves are literally the size of baby cows!
I hope to review these items in the next week or so. I love the print of both dresses so I am super looking forward for them to arrive on my door mat.
Thank you Simply Be for the code, it was the perfect pick me up for post Plus North blues!
I feel a little nervous writing my first blog post. I may have been reading blogs for the past year or so but writing my own is a little scary!
Last weekend, I attended a plus size fashion event called Plus North.
My first ever plus size fashion event. And it was nothing short of amazing!
The excitement began the minute I boarded the train all suitcased and snacked up ready for a weekend in Leeds. The Saturday of Plus North was an array of plus size fashion brands showcasing some of their beautiful clothes. Amongst the brands were Simply Be, Yours Clothing and Evans.
Each brand had models that walked the catwalk and can I say, they rocked that catwalk. It was amazing to see confident, plus size ladies walk that catwalk!
It was a fun filled afternoon where I met some of my favourite bloggers including Leah, Natalie, Sarah, and Vicky. My face hurt from smiling so much! Leah showed me the glorious pizza cookies that were available and they were amazing!
The outfit that I wore on the afternoon was this beautiful vintage style dress from a little boutique I found whilst in Leeds.
One Hundred Dollar Dress
I teamed it with my vintage clutch I found in a charity shop, Primark pumps and a Matalan cardi.
This dress is my One Hundred Dollars. I felt amazing from the compliments I recieved and it was lovely!
£5 Primark pleather!
A few hours after the main event, there was an after party held at Baracoa. I met up with some of my new friends and it was lovely to sit back, relax and have a few drinks.
I ended up in a glorious ‘sticky floor goodness’ bar in which I purchased a tambourine! Fantastico!
For the after party, I wore a dress I picked up in the Primark sale last year for £5! The tartan top is a super soft cotton and the skirt is made of a faux leather which I never thought I’d suit until I bought this dress.
I teamed it with my New Look Inspire shrug a similar version can be found here and old patent leather shoes from Primark.
It was a fantastic day and without doubt I shall be attending Plus North 2015!
Til next time,
